ECFMG’s Exchange Visitor Sponsorship Program (EVSP) has been the sole visa sponsor for J-1 exchange visitor physicians for decades. As an organization, we’ve always known that the physicians we sponsor are remarkable individuals. We’ve seen them exhibit great bravery, dedication, and talent. But this year, during the COVID-19 global pandemic, we’ve never been more proud of them or of the role that we play in supporting their journeys in medicine.
To our current exchange visitor physicians: Thank you for being essential contributors and health care heroes in the fight against COVID-19 in teaching hospitals across the United States. Thank you for providing patient care to our friends, families, and neighbors in this time of great need. For those new to J-1 visa sponsorship, thank you for meeting travel restrictions, global closures, and other challenges head on, to enter U.S. graduate medical education and join the effort.
Today, on July 1, we begin the 2020/2021 academic year. Although this is a time of great global strain and grief, we take this moment to acknowledge and celebrate your accomplishments. Whether you are continuing your J-1 sponsorship, entering sponsorship for the first time, or exiting sponsorship after having completed your training, we offer you our heartfelt thanks and best wishes.
