Emmanuel G. Cassimatis, MD, has been selected by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Foundation as the 2016 recipient of the George Tarjan Award. This award recognizes a physician who has made significant contributions to the enhancement of the integration of international medical graduates (IMGs) into American psychiatry. In addition to having an extensive professional background in psychiatry, Dr. Cassimatis has since 2009 been President and CEO of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG®), the organization that evaluates the qualifications of IMGs who wish to enter accredited U.S. programs of graduate medical education.
