CVS for Requesting Organizations

CVS Reports

CVS issues two types of reports: confirmation reports and status reports.

A confirmation report verifies whether an IMG is ECFMG certified. Hospitals, HMOs, and other organizations that require confirmation of ECFMG Certification for employment purposes can request these reports. Requests from IMGs are not accepted for this purpose.

A status report verifies an IMG’s ECFMG certification status, and also indicates passing performance on exams. These reports are provided to state medical boards/medical licensing authorities and residency/fellowship programs. IMGs may request to have a status report sent to a state medical board/medical licensing authority but not a residency/fellowship program.

Reports are sent within approximately two weeks of receipt of the request at ECFMG. If a request cannot be processed because of incomplete or inconsistent data, ECFMG will notify the requester in writing.

CVS reports will be delivered electronically. For an additional $5.00 fee, requesting organizations can have a report sent by mail on blue safety paper that contains a watermark of the ECFMG logo. If the requesting organization requests to receive a paper report and does not receive the report, ECFMG will honor requests for duplicate reports at no additional cost up to 90 days after the date that the original report was processed.

Report recipients can verify the authenticity of the report by visiting the secure URL printed on the report and entering the unique report verification code found on the bottom of the report.
