{"id":3853,"date":"2020-07-22T12:16:56","date_gmt":"2020-07-22T16:16:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ecfmg.org\/news\/?p=3853"},"modified":"2020-07-22T12:16:56","modified_gmt":"2020-07-22T16:16:56","slug":"step-1-and-step-2-ck-content-distribution-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ecfmg.org\/news\/2020\/07\/22\/step-1-and-step-2-ck-content-distribution-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Step 1 and Step 2 CK Content Distribution Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/covid.usmle.org\/announcements\/covid-19-update-phased-approach-expanding-step-1-step-2-ck-and-step-3-testing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">May 15<\/a>, the United States Medical Licensing Examination<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> (USMLE<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>) program announced that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmle.org\/announcements\/?ContentId=256\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">content distribution changes<\/a>\u00a0on Step 1 and Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) would be delayed until at least September 2020 because of the impact COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has had on USMLE testing. Below is the current timetable for implementing these changes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Beginning in\u00a0<strong>October 2020<\/strong>, Step 1 will increase the number of items assessing communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Beginning in\u00a0<strong>November 2020<\/strong>,\u00a0Step 2 CK will increase the number of items assessing\u00a0systems-based practice, patient safety, legal\/ethical issues, and professionalism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In mid-August, the USMLE program will provide updated practice materials and more information about the schedule for rollout of these changes, including the timeline for reporting scores.
