Emergency Medicine Residency Applicants: AAMC Standardized Video Interview

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) requires all Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS®) applicants who apply to Emergency Medicine (EM) programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) to complete a Standardized Video Interview (SVI). Emergency Medicine program directors will include the video interview as a component when evaluating residency applications. The video interview is designed to assess an applicant’s knowledge of professional behaviors and interpersonal and communication skills, two ACGME competencies that have been identified as requirements for success as a resident and in future practice. The SVI does not replace or replicate in-person interviews.
