Issue 121 - August 24, 2007
Deadlines for Completing a 2007 USMLE Application
The ECFMG 2008 Information Booklet and application materials are expected to be available on the ECFMG website on September 13, 2007. When the 2008 materials become available, the 2007 application materials will no longer be available. If you are applying for a USMLE examination using ECFMG’s Interactive Web Application (IWA), refer to the following important information on deadlines for completing a 2007 application.
You must finish the on-line part of the 2007 application, including payment, before the transition to the 2008 materials on September 13. If, when the 2008 materials become available, you have begun but not yet finished the on-line part of the application, your incomplete application will be deleted.
In addition, your complete application must be received and processed by ECFMG no later than October 25, 2007. A complete 2007 application consists of the on-line part of the application, your Certification Statement (Form 183) or Certification of Identification Form (Form 186), and all other required documentation. Please note that it typically takes three weeks from receipt of a complete application for ECFMG to process the application. If your complete 2007 application is not processed by October 25, 2007, it will be rejected.
If your 2007 application is deleted or rejected, you will be required to reapply using the 2008 application. Any payment received with your 2007 application will be credited to your ECFMG financial account. For the eligibility periods you can obtain using a 2008 application, see below.
