Profiles of Medical Education Systems of Selected Countries Available
The ECFMG Reporter has a diverse readership that includes individuals and organizations who want to learn more about medical education systems around the world. ECFMG, in collaboration with the Federation of State Medical Boards of the United States, Inc. (FSMB), has developed informational profiles of different medical education systems. These profiles are published in InMedEd, an FSMB newsletter, and are available on the FSMB website.
The profiles available to date provide information on the medical education systems in India and the Philippines, including medical school admission requirements, length and content of the curriculum, and medical degree awarded. Also included are any additional requirements for receipt of the degree, such as internships. Other topics covered include an overview of the physician licensure and medical school accreditation processes.
