NBME® Enhances Performance Feedback on Its Web-Based Self-Assessment Service
The National Board of Medical Examiners® (NBME) recently enhanced the performance feedback for those who take the web-based Comprehensive Basic Science Self-Assessment (CBSSA) or Comprehensive Clinical Science Self Assessment (CCSSA). In addition to a diagnostic performance profile, participants now receive a score interpretation guide with a conversion table that allows them to "translate" an assessment score to an approximate corresponding Step 1 or Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) total score on the USMLE™ scale.
The CBSSA and CCSSA are web-based self-assessments that may be useful in preparing to take USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK, respectively. Both self-assessments are available on-line, and interested individuals can take the assessments from their home computers. Two unique forms are available for each assessment, and users can choose to take the forms under two timing conditions: standard USMLE pacing (one hour per section) or self-pacing (up to four hours per section). The assessments are available for $45.00 (USD) each.
