Basic and Clinical Science Self-Assessments Available on the NBME® Website
The NBME offers two web-based self-assessments that may be useful in preparing to take USMLE™ Step 1 or Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK). Both self-assessments are available on-line, and interested individuals can take the assessments from their home computers.
The Comprehensive Basic Science Self-Assessment has 200 items divided into four sections and is designed to reflect the content and format of Step 1. The Comprehensive Clinical Science Self-Assessment has 184 items also divided into four sections and is designed to reflect the content and format of Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK). Two unique forms are available for each assessment, and users can choose to take the forms under two timing conditions: standard USMLE pacing (one hour per section) or self-pacing (up to four hours per section).
Diagnostic feedback in the form of a performance profile identifying areas of strength and weakness is available immediately after the assessment is completed. The assessments are available for $45.00 (USD) each.
