As reported in the July 15, 2002 issue of The ECFMG Reporter, numbers associated with examinations required for ECFMG Certification increased during the first half of 2002. This upward trend continued during the second half of the year. As a result, the past year saw significant increases in demand for all exams required for ECFMG Certification.

The number of exam scores submitted for the Test of English as a Foreign Language™ (TOEFL®), which fulfills the English language proficiency requirement for ECFMG Certification, also increased significantly in 2002. The 13,076 TOEFL scores accepted by ECFMG in 2002 marked a 12% increase over the number of scores accepted in 2001.
