Issue Twelve - August 5, 2002
Deadline to Take CSA® for 2003 Match is January 31, 2003
International medical graduates who wish to participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), or "the Match," must have passed all exams required for ECFMG certification. To ensure that your results for the ECFMG Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA) will be reported to the NRMP in time to participate in the 2003 Match, you must take the CSA no later than January 31, 2003.
In recent years, demand for CSA testing spaces in the months preceding the Match has exceeded the number of testing spaces available. For this reason, ECFMG has consistently urged applicants to register for the CSA as soon as they become eligible. Although the opening of the CSA center in Atlanta will increase the number of available testing spaces, the number of applicants registering for the CSA is significantly higher compared to last year, and the remaining testing spaces available through the January 31, 2003 deadline are expected to fill quickly.
At the time of this writing, the earliest available CSA dates were in October-November 2002. If you need to take the CSA to participate in the 2003 Match, you are strongly encouraged to apply for the CSA as soon as you become eligible and to schedule your assessment date as soon as possible after you are registered.
You can apply for the CSA on-line using ECFMG's Interactive Web Application (IWA). You can check the status of your CSA application using ECFMG's On-line Applicant Status and Information System (OASIS). To access IWA and OASIS, visit the ECFMG website at www.ecfmg.org.
