Important Notice for Step 1 / Step 2 Applicants
USMLE™ application materials for eligibility periods ending in 2002 are valid through August 30, 2002. The last 2002 eligibility period is October 2002 - December 2002. The deadline for receipt of complete applications for this eligibility period is August 30, 2002.
Typically, individuals who apply on-line using ECFMG's Interactive Web Application (IWA) must submit their completed Certification Statement within four months of the date they submit the on-line part of the application. However, if you apply on-line for a 2002 eligibility period, ECFMG must receive both the on-line part of the application and the completed Certification Statement no later than August 30, 2002. Please note that this deadline may be earlier than the deadline indicated in the Instructions for the Certification Statement (Form 183) and in correspondence you may have received from ECFMG.
2002 USMLE applications received by ECFMG after August 30, 2002 will be rejected, and you will be required to apply for a 2003 eligibility period using a 2003 USMLE application. In this case, any payment received with your 2002 USMLE application will be credited to your ECFMG financial account.
Availability of 2003 Information Booklet / Application Materials
The on-line and paper editions of the 2003 Information Booklet and Application Materials are expected to be available on this website in August 2002. You can use the 2003 materials to apply for:
- USMLE Step 1 / Step 2 eligibility periods ending in 2003, and the
- ECFMG Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA®) for the calendar year 2003.
