In 2014, based on growing concerns about the effectiveness and format of the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE), the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) formed the AAMC MSPE Task Force to reevaluate the organization’s established guidelines for preparing MSPEs.
After an initial round of research and feedback review, the AAMC MSPE Task Force developed six principles to guide what the revised MSPE should provide. The task force then began a thorough review of survey findings and research, and gathered feedback from program directors, student affairs deans, and other stakeholders.
Based on the AAMC MSPE Task Force’s findings, the AAMC recently published its Recommendations for Revising the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) which the organization encourages all medical schools to use.
