ECFMG® is pleased to announce that, on September 1, the Medical Council of Ireland incorporated ECFMG’s Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (EPICSM) into the Medical Council’s process for assessing the medical qualifications of its Category 4 applicants. Category 4 applicants are those who apply to the Medical Council for registration from medical schools located outside of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland. The Medical Council now requires these applicants to have their medical education credentials primary-source verified through EPIC before submitting their registration applications to the Medical Council. ECFMG is proud to partner with the Medical Council to add primary-source verification—a best practice and the best protection against fraudulent credentials—to the Medical Council’s tools for evaluating the qualifications of its Category 4 applicants and promoting the highest professional standards for physicians practicing in the Republic of Ireland.
