ERAS Support Services at ECFMG Working with International Medical Schools to Implement Electronic Submission of Supporting Documents

ERAS Support Services at ECFMG is working with international medical schools that submit supporting documents on behalf of their students/graduates to implement an optional process through which schools can submit these supporting documents electronically to ECFMG. These documents include Medical Student Performance Evaluations (MSPEs), medical school transcripts, and original letters of recommendation, in accordance with ECFMG’s Original Document Policy.

Electronic submission of supporting documents eliminates the need for ERAS Support Services to scan these documents, enabling ERAS Support Services to upload documents to the ERAS PostOffice within two to three business days of receipt at ECFMG. Currently, ERAS Support Services requires up to four weeks to scan and upload documents to the ERAS PostOffice.

In order to participate in the electronic submission of supporting documents, the medical school must adhere to certain technical requirements. Representatives from ERAS Support Services are available to provide interested medical schools with guidance and specific requirements.

Any medical school that would like more information on how to participate should contact ERAS Support Services at eras-support@ecfmg.org; enter “Electronic Document Submission / Attn: Ms. Anna Iacone” in the subject line.

ECFMG Developing ERAS Interface for the ECFMG Medical School Web Portal (EMSWP)

In early 2008, ECFMG launched the ECFMG Medical School Web Portal (EMSWP), its first on-line offering exclusively for international medical schools. EMSWP provides medical schools with access to a free, web-based program that enables them to verify the status of their students and graduates who apply to ECFMG for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). Currently, ECFMG is working to expand the services available to international medical schools through EMSWP. One of the services under development is an interface that will enable schools to submit supporting documents electronically and to track these documents on behalf of their students/graduates who participate in ERAS.

ERAS Support Services at ECFMG is working with representatives of several medical schools to define the business requirements for this initiative. Updates on the development of the ERAS interface will be posted to this website as they become available.
