Information for Physicians
If you are a physician whose medical registration board requires EICS verification of medical credentials, the following basic information may be helpful. EICS provides assistance to medical registration boards by obtaining primary source verification of international medical credentials. EICS does not verify dental or non-medical related credentials. A list of medical registration boards and other organizations participating in EICS is available on this website. If you are unsure whether your medical registration board requires EICS verification of your credentials, please contact your medical registration board.EICS credentials verification is an application-based process. If your medical registration board requires EICS verification of medical credentials, the board will provide you with its customized EICS application materials. You may also be able to print application materials for your board from this website. EICS processes new applications within two weeks of receipt. EICS will send a notice to confirm processing of your application. The notice will also include your EICS identification number. You will be notified if additional information or credentials are required. Include your EICS identification number on all correspondence to EICS.
Although EICS is an ECFMG program, it is separate from the ECFMG certification process. Verifications, credentials and fees are not transferable between EICS and ECFMG. You must submit to EICS copies of all credentials required for verification by your medical registration board, even if your final medical diploma has previously been verified by ECFMG for the purpose of ECFMG certification. You must also include full payment of the EICS application fee with your application even if you have an active ECFMG financial account.
If your medical credentials have been verified previously through EICS and you are applying to another medical registration board that requires EICS verification, you must provide a complete EICS application for that medical registration board. EICS application materials include instructions for submitting a subsequent application to EICS.
Please refer to the EICS FAQs for answers to the most common questions about EICS and the EICS application.
