Overview
The ECFMG® Exchange Visitor Sponsorship Program will host its 2008 conference on September 22-23 at the Sheraton Society Hill, One Dock Street (2nd and Walnut Streets), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The target audience for this event includes Training Program Liaisons (TPLs), graduate medical education (GME) administrators, program coordinators, and international office personnel from institutions involved in the training of international medical graduates (IMGs). The agenda will focus on institutional policies and practices and will assume attendees have a clear understanding of basic GME and immigration issues.
The conference will offer updated information on ECFMG services including certification, ERAS®, and J visa sponsorship. An in-depth review of current IMG trends and important compliance issues will be presented. The conference will provide participants with hands-on training, case analysis, and access to immigration and GME experts.
ECFMG’s conference will cover:
- Review of ECFMG services and resources available to IMGs, teaching hospitals, state medical boards, and academic medical organizations
- Updated information and advice for developing policies and procedures to better manage foreign national IMGs enrolled in U.S. residency training programs
- Information and discussion of institutional responsibilities in ensuring government compliance with respect to IMGs in residency
- Discussion and analysis of complex IMG case studies
- Updated information on the Conrad State 30 reauthorization and the J visa waiver process
- Opportunity to tour the USMLE™ Step 2 Clinical Skills test center
- Opportunity to meet senior government representatives and nationally recognized immigration attorneys
- Opportunity to meet your ECFMG Regional Advisor and discuss institutional needs and unique issues
- Opportunity to network with experienced GME professionals from around the country
