Pre-Conference Activity: Tour of Philadelphia CSEC Test Center

Conference attendees are invited to register for a tour of the Philadelphia Clinical Skills Evaluation Collaboration (CSEC) Test Center. CSEC is a collaboration of ECFMG and the National Board of Medical Examiners® (NBME®) and is responsible for delivery of the USMLE Step 2 CS exam. Government’s Role in the Visa Process: What an IMG Can Expect

Details on visa issuance policies, security clearances, application procedures, and timelines will be offered at this session. Specific topics will include consular processing, biometric tracking, ports-of-entry inspections, and regional service center processing.

Institutional Compliance and the IMG in Residency

Speakers will provide insight on how to best manage the myriad of compliance issues associated with IMGs in residency training. Particular emphasis will be placed on the academic, employment, and immigration reporting responsibilities of the GME office.

A discussion with an experienced internal medicine program director focusing on acculturation and orientation issues, including new ECFMG resources and initiatives.

Attendees will be organized in small groups to discuss and share their approaches to real-life scenarios involving IMGs in U.S. residency training. Subject matter experts will facilitate the group dialogue and formulate conclusions on the options and best practices to consider in managing complex IMG issues.

Update on Conrad State 30 Reauthorization and the Waiver Process

Congressional and state health representatives will give an update on the reauthorization of the Conrad State 30 waiver program and related legislation. Requirements for “flex” spots and HPSA and MUA designation will also be offered.
