ECFMG Certification Fact SheetThe ECFMG Certification Fact Sheet is designed to provide basic information on ECFMG Certification, such as eligibility and requirements. It also outlines additional resources and next steps for those who are ready to apply. The Fact Sheet provides this information in a compact, accessible format, making it the most appropriate resource for initial inquiries on ECFMG Certification.

ECFMG distributes the Fact Sheet to medical schools, overseas educational advising centers, U.S. embassies and consulates, and to individuals upon request.

Information Booklet

ECFMG Information Booklet

ECFMG publishes the ECFMG Information Booklet annually. The Information Booklet contains detailed information on ECFMG's program of certification and other programs and services for physicians educated abroad. This publication also contains the official application materials for USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 and for the ECFMG Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA). The USMLE Bulletin of Information, which accompanies the Information Booklet, provides detailed information about USMLE, the single three-step examination program for medical licensure in the United States.

Interested individuals can obtain the Information Booklet, Bulletin of Information, and application materials for USMLE Step 1/Step 2 and the ECFMG Clinical Skills Assessment from the ECFMG website. ECFMG provides printed copies of these materials upon request. ECFMG also regularly distributes these materials to medical schools, overseas educational advising centers, hospitals, government agencies, U.S. embassies and consulates, and professional medical organizations.

Annual Report

ECFMG Annual ReportThe Annual Report provides information on ECFMG's programs and services, history, current research activities, and new initiatives. It also provides a profile of applicants for ECFMG Certification, including data on country of citizenship, country of medical school, and examinee performance.

ECFMG distributes the Annual Report to members of the ECFMG mailing list, including medical schools, overseas educational advising centers, hospitals, government agencies, U.S. embassies and consulates, professional medical organizations, and to individuals upon request.

Monograph—The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, A History: 1956-2000

ECFMG MonographPublished in December 2000, this monograph is the first comprehensive history of ECFMG and its programs. Topics include the factors leading to the establishment of ECFMG, a complete history of the certification and examination programs, and the development of the organization's role in the area of international medical education.

Reprint Series

The ECFMG Reprint Series 1990-1994 is a compilation of twenty-two articles, written by ECFMG staff, related to ECFMG programs, research, and development. Among the subjects covered in this volume are ECFMG's fellowship programs for international scholars, studies done in preparation for the Clinical Skills Assessment, and a variety of other issues related to the evaluation of international medical graduates.

The ECFMG Reprint Series 1995-1998 contains twelve previously-published articles by ECFMG staff covering a range of subjects, including the ECFMG Certification process, use of ECFMG certifying examinations for national comparisons, and seven articles on issues in prototype development and measurement in clinical skills assessment. Also included is a complete bibliography of articles published from 1994 through 1998.
